Rent Burn Equipment
One major barrier facing landowners wanting to conduct a prescribed burn is the difficulty and expense of acquiring the equipment needed. CBPBA has addressed this problem by making most of it available for a very modest rental fee. The equipment is supplied in a trailer that landowners can pickup and transport to and from the burn site. To tow the trailer you will need a receiver type hitch with a 2 5/16” ball.
Availability of the trailer can be determined by visiting the Burn Trailer Reservation calendar HERE
To reserve the trailer phone Terry Blankenship at 361-364-2643. He will then enter the reserved dates on the calendar. Contact Gary Homerstadt (361-575-8007) or Kirk Feuerbacher (361-220-2520) to make arrangements to pick up the trailer.
This trailer and its equipment are valued at approximately $15,000 and were donated by the Coastal Bend Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation to TOWMA, the Texas Organizationof Wildlife Management Asociations, who in turn assigned it to CBPBA for day to day management, scheduling and upkeep. It is equipped with most of the equipment required to conduct a prescribed burn, including 25, 60, and 100 gallon spray rigs. Only four wheelers or other vehicles are needed in addition to what comes with the trailer.
The trailer is stationed in Victoria at this time. It is available to anyone qualified in its use for a small rental fee. The fee charged is used for maintenance of the trailer.
Rental rates are $100 for 2 days (allows time to pickup and return the trailer and burn one day) and $50 for every additional day, or portion thereof, calculated from the time of pickup until the trailer is returned. Users must show proof of insurance before towing the trailer (check your auto insurance policy) and are responsible for any loss or damage sustained by the trailer or the equipment while in their possession.
